Team Home Run

Run • Walk • Cheer

About once a month, a group of volunteers participate in designated fun runs and family walks wearing Team Home Run shirts.  The group helps to support Directions Home partner agencies and raises awareness about efforts to end homelessness in greater Fort Worth.  There are no funds to be raised or a minimum or maximum number of events that you must attend.  Team Home Run is a healthy and visible way to show your support for ending homelessness in Fort Worth.

How does it work?

Simply make a minimum donation of $25 to join Team Home Run and receive a Directions Home branded technical shirt. Attend any of the upcoming events and help toe-the-line alongside other Running Ambassadors – including sheltered or formerly homeless citizens. The collective presence of Team Home Run participants in matching shirts will increase visibility about the effort to end chronic homelessness.

Do I have to raise funds or solicit pledges?

No! Team Home Run is not a fundraising program. Our goal is simply to draw attention to the issue.  Running Ambassadors who wish to run or walk in an event are, however, responsible for paying individual entry fees to the events they attend.  Cheering on the Team is free!

What fun run events do I need to attend and how many?

Here is a list of upcoming events that Running Ambassadors are encouraged to attend.  The list of events will be updated 3 – 4 times per year and emailed to the Team.  Many of the runs are hosted by or benefit partner agencies and friends of Directions Home, which means your registration fees for those events supports local efforts to end homelessness. There is no maximum or minimum number of events required to participate and you may choose any distance.

What do I receive for my Team Home Run entry fee?

Running Ambassadors receive a Mizuno technical shirt featuring the Directions Home logo. You’ll also have access to complimentary training runs and receive a discount on shoes and clothing at the Fort Worth Running Company.

If you plan to participate in a Fort Worth-area run or walk this year, please consider joining us! You’ll help us make sure that where the West begins is where homelessness ends.
